The Times Tables

The Times Table - simple, powerful, necessary

The first question I ask every student is: "Do you know the Times Table?". Invariably their answers are optimistic.

I think students are embarrassed to admit they don't know the multiplication tables. After all, these are skills that are taught in grades 3 and 4. Having said this, now what?

The Times Table must be memorized, not figured out using fingers-and-toes or calculators. It's just a fact. It's important to know your Times Table for 2 simple reasons -

Accuracy  You'll get marks for the right answer.

Speed  Your mind works at lightening speed compared to counting on fingers or using a calculator.

To move through math questions at the pace required to complete a homework assignment or write a quiz or test, you need speed. And you want to be accurate!

Estimating what an answer should be is spending time that you could be using solving the next problem! Be confident. Learn the Times Table! Contact us!
